AkzoNobel, headquartered in the Netherlands, is a large multi-national company with global presence and market leading positions in coatings and specialty chemicals. The central Treasury function is responsible for Treasury and Insurance for the global group.  Within the function, Treasury manages corporate finance, financial risk, liquidity, cash management, in-house bank and payment processes.. The Insurance department provides global insurance to all AkzoNobel companies worldwide. Its control, accounting and administrative operational activities are integrated with the Treasury and Insurance Operations team.

This role will make you familiar with how our company manages its purchase to pay and order to cash processes efficiently and effectively between our business and the bank, and our insurance operations. Training and development will be offered to support a successful assignment.


The purpose of the Treasury and Insurance Operations team is to manage the daily operations of Treasury and Insurance. It is the daily heartbeat that is essential to the centers of expertise of Treasury & Insurance and the company. These processes include back-office activities on payments, collections, bank settlements and insurance operations . Given the high levels of automation, the focus is on controls, exception handling, system maintenance, fixes and customer support.

The key objective is to have efficient, effective and controlled execution of transaction processes at the lowest possible cost for both Treasury and Insurance. The challenge is to deliver on this ambition in a dynamic environment; dealing with constant changes in the organization, people, processes and systems. It requires an adaptive and client focused attitude, looking for continuous improvements.

Key Objective:
Support controlled confirmation and settlements of Treasury payments, collections, trades and corporate finance.
Second line of defense controls on payments (checks and compliance filter).
Support controlled execution of insurance programs on premiums, claims, risk engineering, appraisal.
Support other internal AkzoNobel finance functions with banking and insurance operations activities.

Execution and monitoring of the automated daily SAP InHouse Bank/Payment Factory operations:
Payment runs internal and external towards the banks.
.Payment and bank statement runs, check and clear balances/accounts.
Perform daily bank reconciliations leading to engagement with bank and business contacts.
Ascertain and distribute exposure positions to the front office Treasury, while interacting closely with accounting.
Perform predefined internal control activities.

Treasury and corporate finance support
Confirmation of FX transactions through electronic and manual interfaces.
Monitor, action and resolve outstanding deal confirmations, including FX netting.
Support corporate finance activities in the area of intercompany loans, guarantees, commercial papers and liquidity funds.
Execution of the daily insurance activities regarding the different insurance programs such as General Product Liability, Property Damage Business Interruption, CAR..

Handling of daily service requests:
Maintain and update static data in the Treasury Management System
Contact for addressing issues on banking (payments and collections), and insurance (premium and claims).
Contact with internal stakeholders and bridge with external banks and insurance companies.
Coach and support internal stakeholders with accessing and the use of Treasury systems.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Profile candidate
A pro-active team player with a continuous improvement mentality, strong analytical skills and able to deal effectively with competing priorities in line with preset daily deadlines.

Other requirements:
– 2-5 years of back office finance operations experience in business finance, corporate companies or banks;
– Proven knowledge of Sap Treasury;
– Finance Background and education at MBO+ Level.
– Fluent in the use of both oral and written English.
– Strong ‘hands-on’ mentality. The individual has a “can do” mentality and shows enthusiasm for the profession.
