Our central Treasury function is responsible for Treasury, Pensions and Insurance for the global group. Within Treasury, Business Treasury operates as the link between the businesses and the group’s financial Treasury center. Business Treasury supports the business as one global team, located in Shanghai, Singapore, Sao Paulo, Chicago and Arnhem.

Within this context, your mission in this role is to act as a Treasury business partner for all businesses operating in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

This requires the ability to sustain a balance between global efficiencies on the one hand and local specifics (e.g. regulations, financial markets and cultures) on the other hand. Further complexity stems from the fact that some entities are wholly owned, joint ventures, partnerships or sometimes separately listed.

The role and its responsibilities

This influential and high profile position is based at our office in Arnhem, the Netherlands. You form part of an expert team of four, reporting to the Head of Treasury EMEA and you are responsible for a range of key Treasury activities:

Business partnering
You establish yourself as Treasury focal point for the region, functions (Control, Accounting, Legal, Tax, Audit, HR), banks, shared service centers, and local regulators.

In doing so you effectively review investments and business proposals, and you support change management processes and projects to achieve the Finance targets, e.g. ERP harmonization and process standardization. You also deploy and embed new rules, manuals, guidelines and processes, requiring you to train and educate stakeholders in the business.

Active Relationship Management
You build a strong and trusted relationship with relationship banks, service providers, local regulators and peers. You also drive internal stakeholder alignment with Operations, the Financial Markets team and the Group Treasurer.

In doing so you deliver optimal treasury processes and expertise to the business in terms of risk management, cash management, trade finance and bank account management.

Optimal Treasury processes and expertise to the business
You provide the guidance and infrastructure to execute trade finance products, e.g. letters of credit, bank guarantees. You also perform Bank Management; engaging with banks to ensure sustainable relations that maximize (credit) support at minimum costs with excellent service levels.

Optimal funding of the legal entities in the region
You lead the preparation of inter-company funding plans per entity/country in consultation with tax, legal, accounting and control. This requires you to drive cash visibility in the region and maintain optimal cash balances.

Further, you initiate repatriation of cash to the center via dividends, and cooperate with Tax and Legal for effective structuring and tax optimization.

M&A transactions, large capex and pre-deal/post deal restructuring

You support special transactions with deal structuring, valuation and funding, along with risk management and due diligence during M&A and contract activities. You also coordinate Treasury disentanglement/integration.

You maintain and improve group Treasury policies; i.e. directives, rules, guidelines and procedures. In doing so you build treasury knowledge and awareness in the region; e.g. via participation in the Finance Academy, presentations and training programs.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Key Skills/Qualities
– University degree supplemented with qualifications in Finance or Treasury Management;
– A deep knowledge of international cash management processes, trade finance, risk management and corporate finance/tax planning;
– Proven project management skills and the intellect to keep abreast with all functional matters and how they interlink;
– Able to work in a disciplined and structured fashion, in line with policies;
– Excellent social and communication skills including fluent written and spoken English and the ability to act with integrity and as an ambassador for our company values;
– Experience of working with SAP and Treasury Management systems;
